Smart and Sustainable Agriculture
SKIMA 2022 Special Session Submission
Smart and Sustainable Agriculture
Scope
Smart Agriculture focuses on the application of modern technology to increase the quantity and quality of agricultural products, and has been a challenging research area. The Alliance for Internet-of-Things Innovation (AIOTI) defines the concept of smart farming as a set of automatic data management processes; including data gathering, data processing and data analysis tasks; in agricultural production systems. Smart farming is a compelling area for research whose basic requirements for rapid development are knowledge base and capital. However, due to a lack of smart farming technology literacy and practice, the majority of farmers have never adopted smart farming technologies to their farms. Moreover, they have never thought about marketing their products due to a lack of practical business models. They are, however, eager to learn about smart farming technologies and business models in order to improve crop production and maintenance, yields, and marketing.
The research challenges in this session could address some of these issues in the area of cyber physical system, IoT sensors, farm data management and analytics, blockchain technologies, decision support system, agro-knowledge management, farmer’s technology acceptance, standardization, food safety and traceability, innovative business models and marketing aspect. Moreover, this session aims to bring together the knowledge and experience of researchers and practitioners around the world to respond to these challenges.
The session aims to attract original scientific papers dealing with smart technology applications and innovative business models in agriculture for its digital transformation.
